iCluster for Apple MacOS X

High availability solutions developer High-Availability.Com (HAC) has introduced an innovative new port for its acclaimed RSF-1 cluster middleware solution to Apple’s MAC OS X Tiger operating system.

The port,  believed to be the first by a major third party developer to the latest version of Apple’s advanced OS, marks HAC’s entry into the Apple marketplace for mission critical applications. With its comprehensive and extremely high level of functionality, RSF-1 for MAC OS X Tiger represents a significant advance on Apple’s own IP failover, link aggregation and automatic reboot capabilities.

It also provides an important technical and marketing edge to HAC’s RSF-1 application providers, resellers, distributors and other partners, particularly those in regions of the world where the advantages of the latest Apple technology are increasingly being recognised.

An established leader in the UNIX sector where RSF-1 has been adopted by many organisations across the whole spectrum of business, industry, government and education, High-Availability.Com sells its products directly and via a global network. This includes channel partners in the UK, Europe, the US, Australia, China, Japan, Malaysia and South Korea.

One important region where HAC expects the new port to provide its partners with significant prospective added value is that of Asia-Pacific where RSF-1 is supporting mission critical systems in very diverse markets, from the Tokyo Stock Exchange and the US Navy to the Chinese Postal Service.

Partners in this region include Asgent, a Japanese developer and distributor of pioneering network security solutions and Red Flag Software which is growing rapidly to be the largest Linux company in China. Others are: KOItech and Samboo in Korea, and StorArray in Australia, Malaysia, Singapore and China. Asia Pacific regional distributor is Western Micro that is based in Hong Kong and Mainland China.

UK partners and resellers include GE Access Distribution, Acardia, DSI, Esteem, InTechnology, Maginus, Northgate Information Solutions and Phoebus Solutions.

UK application providers include ABM, Blackboard, Capita Software Services, Cedar HR, Maginus, Remedy, SITS, Steria, SWIFT and WebCT.
