Known SCSI disks and PGR reservation support

This is a list of disks that have been tested with our SCSI reservation mechanism for disk fencing. Some disks have been shown to behave in such a way that makes them incompatible with SCSI-3 reservations. This does not mean they cannot be used in a cluster - SCSI-2 reservations can be used instead.

This list is not exhaustive and will be regularly updated as we test more disks.

Section 1: PGR reservations supported fully

The following disks have shown no issues with SCSI-3 PGR reservations in our testing

Toshiba AL13SEB600 DE01

Section 2: Incorrect TUR response

The following disks work OK with PGR reservations in systems where there is a single path to the disk. However, in multipathed systems, when a Test Unit Ready command is issued using a path other than the one used to place to reservation, the response will be 'reservation conflict'. This will cause failfast to immediately panic the machine.

Section 3: Not tested in multipath configuration

The following disks work OK with PGR reservations in systems where there is a single path to the disk. However, they have not yet been tested in systems with multiple paths to disks. If they are tested in the future in a multipath configuration, they will be moved to either section 1 or 2.

Section 4: Disk cannot be released once reserved

The following disks can be reserved, but give errors when the release command is given. Therefore, they should not be used with PGR reservations.

Section 5: Disk does not support SCSI-3 PGR reservations

The following disks respond to any PERSISTENT_RESERVE_IN or PERSISTENT_RESERVE_OUT command with 'ERNOTSUP' so they do not support PGR reservations at all.
